Strictly's Delta Goodrem to Miss Dance Due to Rib Injury
Strictly's Delta Goodrem to Skip Dance After Rib Injury

Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard topper Delta Goodrem has said she is “gutted” to miss the next ballroom due to a rib injury.

After gaining the lead last week, Goodrem and professional partner Kai Widdrington were given a score of 33 for their salsa on Saturday’s episode of the BBC series.

Judges' Praise and Injury Setback

Judge Anton Du Beke said the Australian singer was “setting a very high bar” this season, while Craig Revel Horwood called her performance “amazing”.

However, an injury has since prompted doctors to advise her to rest.

Goodrem's Statement

Goodrem said in a statement: “I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week.

“I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday night.

“I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show.”

Bye to Next Round

Strictly has given her and Widdrington a pass to the next round.

The singer will focus on rest and recovery and hopes to “be back on that dancefloor very soon”.

She thanked people for “all the love and support”, adding: “I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week!”

A Strictly spokesperson said: “Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing.

“In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.

“We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7.10pm Sunday on BBC One.
