The entertainment and animal welfare communities are in mourning following the sudden death of Sarah Fisher, the long-term partner of actor Anthony Head and mother to actresses Emily and Daisy Head.
Daughters' Heartbreaking Announcement
Sarah Fisher passed away recently at the age of 61, a loss described by her family as coming "with very little warning." The sad news was shared in a joint statement posted to the social media page of Tilley Farm, the 90-acre Somerset property she ran.
Her daughter, Emily Head, 37, best known for playing Carli D'Amato in the hit series The Inbetweeners, wrote alongside her sister Daisy, 34: "We are so sorry to have to share the news that our extraordinary, kind and talented mother, Sarah, passed away recently. It is immensely shocking to us all."
They added that no words could describe "the crater her absence has left," praising her profound impact on many lives and the legacy she leaves behind.
A Life Dedicated to Animal Welfare
Born in Epsom, Surrey, Sarah Fisher was a passionate and respected figure in animal advocacy. She was an ambassador for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and a patron of the Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Bristol.
Peter Laurie, chief executive at Battersea, said the charity was "truly sorry to lose our beloved friend and ambassador." He highlighted her years of devoted support, which included fostering dogs, training staff with her canine behaviour expertise, and attending numerous events.
Pauline Leeson, founder of Holly Hedge, paid tribute on the sanctuary's website, stating: "Sarah was always a voice for those dear souls who have no voice, and was the most genuine, caring and compassionate human being." She noted that Fisher's work helped "so very many animals of all species."
A Family's Grief and Legacy
Sarah Fisher married actor Anthony Head in 1982. While Head, known for roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Little Britain, and Ted Lasso, has not yet commented publicly, he was a steadfast supporter of her campaigning work.
In their emotional statement, her daughters expressed boundless grief, writing: "We only wish she'd had more time to share her knowledge and brilliance with us, and the world... nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit."
Daisy Head, whose acting credits include Guilt and The Syndicate, is set to appear in the forthcoming period drama The Gray House on Prime Video in February.
The family thanked all of Sarah's friends and collaborators, saying they knew "how much she treasured the relationships she had." The animal welfare world has lost a formidable and compassionate champion, whose memory will live on through her extensive work.
