Sara Cox Left 'Unable to Walk' After Gruelling Five-Marathon Challenge
Sara Cox 'Unable to Walk' After 5 Marathons

BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox has been left struggling to walk after completing an astonishingly tough physical challenge for Children in Need, where she ran five marathons over five consecutive days.

The Aftermath of an Epic Fundraising Feat

Just days after crossing the finish line of her 135-mile running ordeal, the broadcaster opened up about the intense physical toll it has taken on her body. Sara Cox managed to raise a phenomenal £10,169,084 for the charity through her incredible efforts, a sum she says "means the absolute world".

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Sara candidly admitted, "I can't really walk!" She revealed that her feet were so swollen with fluid that she could only manage to wear Crocs. "I had to put the Crocs on, and even that was a squeeze," she explained. "I had to really wrestle my Crocs on... I am like [when] you have the flu and at the end you make a brew and you are wiped out."

The radio host confessed she had underestimated the difficulty of the recovery, having initially thought she would be able to take her dogs for a gentle walk shortly after returning home.

The Motivation Behind the Miles

Despite the physical hardship, Sara was quick to highlight that the monumental fundraising total was achieved through the collective generosity of the public. She emphasised that the £10 million was built from the "fivers, tenners, and twenties of Radio 2 listeners and Children In Need supporters", each donating their hard-earned cash for the cause.

Her entire journey was documented for a special BBC programme, 'Sara Cox: Every Step of the Way for Children In Need'. The show aired on BBC One on Wednesday, November 19 at 8pm and is available on BBC iPlayer.

Celebrity Support and a Sweet Surprise

During the immense challenge, Sara found motivation in the music of grime artist Stormzy, especially during the final gruelling miles. In a heartwarming turn of events, the star received a personal message of congratulations from Stormzy himself after she completed the five marathons.

In his supportive video message, Stormzy said, "Just wanted to say a big congratulations to you for completing five marathons in five days, which is just insane. And it is five more marathons than I've done in my life so again massive congrats, and salute to you for raising all that money for such a beautiful, wonderful cause. We're all very proud of you."
