Gordon Ramsay's wedding speech jibe at Adam Peaty's family 'filmed for Netflix'
Ramsay's Peaty family feud jibe filmed for Netflix show

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has reportedly escalated his ongoing rift with the family of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, with a caustic six-word put-down delivered during his daughter's wedding speech being filmed for his upcoming Netflix reality series.

The Speech That Sparked Fresh Controversy

The incident occurred at the lavish wedding of Ramsay's daughter, Holly, to Adam Peaty at Bath Abbey over the Christmas holiday. Neither of Adam Peaty's parents attended the ceremony, following a bitter clash over wedding arrangements. During his father-of-the-bride speech, Gordon Ramsay made two comments widely perceived as digs at the absent family.

He first stated that his wife, Tana, "will be a good mum to them both", a remark insiders believe was a pointed reference to Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty. He then turned to his daughter and added, "Shame you don’t have the same", after calling Adam a "lucky man".

Netflix Cameras Roll on Family Drama

The feud is set to reach a far wider audience, as it's reported Ramsay's camera crew were present filming the reception for his forthcoming Netflix documentary series. A source told The Sun that the absence of certain family members would be "very obvious" in the footage and that the feud would likely be addressed.

In response, Caroline Peaty is said to be "outraged and hurt" by the public slight. An insider close to Adam's family told the Daily Mail the comments were "a cruel dig" that made Caroline "sound like a bad mum".

Consent Dispute and Ongoing Estrangement

The Peaty family have reportedly contacted Netflix to request removal from the series, claiming they did not give consent to be filmed at the couple's engagement party last year. However, a source close to the Ramsays countered that signs at the event indicated filming was taking place and that attendance implied consent.

The wedding snub followed Caroline's exclusion from Holly's hen party, which was attended by Victoria Beckham. The estrangement deepened when Adam banned his mother from the wedding. Further tension arose when Adam's brother, James, was arrested on suspicion of harassment after allegedly making threats via text message.

Caroline Peaty has since expressed her heartbreak on social media. In a poignant New Year's Eve post, she wrote of losing "a piece of myself this year that I will never get back" and prayed for a year of "real peace".

The Mirror has approached Gordon Ramsay's representative for comment. Production on the Netflix series is said to be continuing with no delays.
