Peter Andre Opens Up About 'Debilitating' Anxiety

Peter Andre has revealed that he suffers from 'debilitating anxiety' from time to time, saying he can never rest as his mind is always racing. The 52-year-old singer, best known for his 1995 hit 'Mysterious Girl', spoke out after TV favourite Declan Donnelly shared his own mental health struggles.

Writing in his magazine column, Andre said: 'Declan Donnelly recently spoke of his secret mental health struggle, saying he has constant anxiety, but always feels there is something he should be doing work-wise when he could just be relaxing. I totally understand what he’s going through. I’m exactly the same – I can’t just rest, my brain’s always going at a thousand miles an hour, thinking of the next thing.'

Andre added: 'The anxiety I’ve suffered with for years can be quite debilitating. But it’s great that Dec has spoken out about it – he’s definitely not alone.' Donnelly had previously revealed on Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast that he sought therapy around five or six years ago and found it beneficial, but still struggles with the concept of relaxing when he has nothing in his work diary.

Andre's comments come as he makes a return to music after a decade away. He has released new single 'Rock U Right' and is preparing to launch his album 'Legacy' in April. He said: 'It feels so good to be returning to songwriting – that’s who I’ve been since I was 13.'
