Millie Mackintosh Explores Homeschooling Options Following Marriage Breakdown

Reality television personality Millie Mackintosh has publicly disclosed that she is actively considering homeschooling her two young daughters, a revelation that comes just days after she and her husband Hugo Taylor announced the end of their seven-year marriage. The couple, whose relationship has experienced significant turbulence over the years, have decided to part ways following what insiders describe as a "difficult start to the year."

Parenting Challenges and Educational Dilemmas

During a candid appearance on the Mum's The Word podcast with hosts Georgia Jones and Kelsey Parker, Mackintosh opened up about the parenting struggles she currently faces. She explained that both of her daughters—five-year-old Sienna and four-year-old Aurelia—frequently question why they must attend school, echoing her own childhood aversion to formal education.

"My daughters, both of them, are just like 'Why do I have to go to school, Mummy? Why?' I'm like, I get it. I hated going too," Mackintosh shared. "So I feel bad sometimes. I'm like, why do you have to go to school? And then suddenly I'm Googling homeschooling. I actually would love to homeschool them if it was what they wanted."

The situation has been further complicated by the unexpected closure of her youngest daughter's nursery since Christmas, which remains under investigation. This development prompted Mackintosh to attempt a trial run of homeschooling, though she quickly encountered practical challenges.

"I've tried to just reframe it and think I've had so much time with her this month," she admitted. "I was like, it's fine, I'll just homeschool her. Whatever they're doing at nursery, we'll just do it at home. Then I was like, I can't do that because I also need to work. There's been a lot of iPad, not going to lie, while mummy gets work done."

Neurodivergence and Personal Health Struggles

Mackintosh, who has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder herself, believes her daughters may also be neurodivergent. While neither child has received an official diagnosis, the reality star observes familiar patterns in their behavior.

"We don't have a diagnosis, but I think Sienna maybe is. Sienna is me," she revealed. "My youngest, Aurelia, is so fussy in particular about things. And then I don't know where that falls, but somewhere on a spectrum for sure."

This personal insight into neurodivergence has influenced her educational considerations, as she seeks to provide her children with learning environments that accommodate their potential needs.

Marriage Dissolution and Personal Transformation

The homeschooling contemplation unfolds against the backdrop of Mackintosh's marital separation from Hugo Taylor. The couple, who first began dating in 2011, experienced a highly publicized breakup when Taylor was unfaithful with Mackintosh's best friend—a drama that played out on their reality show Made in Chelsea.

After Mackintosh's subsequent marriage to rapper Professor Green ended in divorce, she reconciled with Taylor and the pair married in 2018. However, their relationship has faced ongoing challenges, including Mackintosh's struggles with alcohol that nearly ended their marriage last year.

During an appearance on This Morning, Mackintosh acknowledged how her drinking was affecting her life and relationships. "It was making me really unhappy, it was really affecting my life, affecting my relationships, especially with my husband," she confessed.

Taylor reportedly presented her with an ultimatum to quit drinking or face the end of their marriage. Mackintosh has since achieved sobriety and appears to have removed her wedding ring, signaling the finality of their separation.

Navigating Forward as a Family

Despite the personal turmoil, both Mackintosh and Taylor remain committed to prioritizing their children's wellbeing. Insiders describe this period as an "incredibly difficult start to the year" for the couple, who wish to handle their separation privately while continuing to co-parent effectively.

Mackintosh recently updated her social media followers after enjoying a retreat, describing it as the "most wonderful few days" away—a brief respite during this challenging transitional period. As she researches alternative education options and adjusts to life as a single parent, Mackintosh's journey reflects the complex intersection of parenting, personal health, and relationship dynamics in the public eye.
