Mia Hewitt Embraces Spotlight with Music and Television Roles
Mia Hewitt, the 20-year-old daughter of Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt and former Home and Away star Bec Hewitt, was recently spotted enjoying Sydney's final warm days of the season. The musician took a refreshing swim at Shark Beach, wearing a striking striped bikini in shades of orange, red, and black. With a natural, makeup-free appearance and her brunette hair flowing freely, Mia showcased her fit physique during the outing.
A Day at the Beach and Beyond
After her swim, Mia relaxed on a towel on a nearby lawn, soaking up the sun while scrolling through her phone. She later departed the area wearing a flowing boho-style dress adorned with floral patterns and carrying a stylish straw hat. This casual beach day comes as Mia increasingly steps into the public eye, moving beyond her famous parents' shadows.
Growing Up Hewitt: A Unique Childhood
In a recent candid interview, Mia opened up about her experience growing up with constant public attention since her birth in 2005. As the eldest child of Lleyton, 44, and Bec, 42, alongside siblings Cruz, 17, and Ava, 15, Mia acknowledged that her parents worked diligently to shield their children from excessive media scrutiny while allowing them to develop their own identities.
"I did a few photo shoots when I was a kid, mainly with my parents," Mia revealed. "But this is the first time I've done anything like this by myself."
Her childhood was marked by extensive international travel, which she says strengthened family bonds but also made them more aware of public attention than typical children. "We were each other's world for so long because we were travelling all the time," she explained. "That closeness keeps you grounded. My siblings are my best friends."
Finding Her Voice Through Music
Mia has now channeled her energy into music, emerging as the lead singer of folk band Father's Favourite. She performs alongside her best friend Chèrise Combrink and has recorded a debut EP. "Music has always been my constant," Mia confessed. "I have always, deep down, wanted to do that – but I didn't have the confidence."
After being homeschooled for a period during which she "retreated into my shell," Mia found inspiration through like-minded friends. "I've made some really beautiful friends and found like-minded people doing similar things," she said. "That gave me this boost of confidence to just go for it."
Her musical influences are firmly rooted in 1960s and 1970s rock, with Stevie Nicks serving as a major inspiration. "Anything early rock 'n' roll has my heart," she declared enthusiastically.
Balancing Fame and Normalcy
When asked about the "nepo baby" label often applied to children of celebrities, Mia responded pragmatically. "It just kind of is what it is," she stated. "I can't say no, I'm not. Because of my parents, I know people. I'm the first to admit that."
Despite her famous lineage and growing public profile, Mia maintains a regular retail job alongside her creative pursuits. "My friends call it the Hannah Montana life," she quipped. "The best of both worlds."
Following in Her Mother's Footsteps
In December 2024, reports emerged that Mia appears to be following her mother's path into television. She was photographed on the set of Home and Away in Palm Beach – the same long-running Australian series that made Bec Hewitt a household name 26 years earlier.
A Channel Seven spokesperson confirmed that Mia has been working as a casual wardrobe assistant on the show for approximately eighteen months, describing her as "part of the H&A family."
While pursuing her music career with Father's Favourite – a folk-rock duo that play gigs in Sydney's Inner West dive bars – Mia maintains connections to her family's substantial lifestyle. When not performing, she returns to her parents' luxurious $10.3 million Glenhaven Estate, blending her artistic ambitions with the privileges of her upbringing.
Through her music, television work, and candid reflections on fame, Mia Hewitt is carving out her own identity while acknowledging the unique advantages and challenges of growing up in the public eye.
