Meghan Markle's Tearful Confession: 'I'm Not Deluded'

Journalist Bryony Gordon has recounted a tearful encounter with Meghan Markle, during which the Duchess of Sussex made a heartfelt three-word confession: "I'm not deluded." The revelation came during a live broadcast on This Morning in April, following fresh comments from Meghan about being "bullied and attacked" online for a decade.

Meghan's Emotional Admission

Gordon, who has met the Duchess on several occasions and considers her a friend, recalled her interactions during the Heads Together mental health campaign in 2018. "Back in 2018, I spent a lot of time with Meghan," Bryony remarked, "and she was crying on me because of what she was experiencing." She added that Meghan bore "no resemblance" to the "villain" portrayed online.

During a candid conversation, Meghan told Gordon: "I don't expect everyone to like me. I'm not deluded. I don't want everyone to like me. But there is an element of just be polite."

Australia Tour and Social Media Comments

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Australia's east coast in April for a four-day trip. Speaking in Melbourne about the harms of social media, Meghan said she was "bullied" every day for a decade and that tech companies were "not incentivised to stop" their platforms being misused. She described herself as "the most trolled person in the world."

At Melbourne's Swinburne University of Technology, Meghan told a group: "When I think of all of you and what you're experiencing, I think so much of that is having to realise that you know that industry, that billion-dollar industry, that is completely anchored and predicated on cruelty to get clicks - that's not going to change. So you have to be stronger than that."

Support for Under-16 Social Media Ban

The couple's visit included a meeting with representatives of a mental health programme, where they voiced support for Australia's under-16 social media ban. Gordon, who has been a vocal defender of Meghan, emphasised that the Duchess is a "normal person" who has been unfairly targeted online.
