Madonna Says She's Done Being Naked, Wants to 'Think and Wear Clothes'
Madonna Done Being Naked, Wants to Think and Wear Clothes

Madonna has declared she is finished with being naked, stating that she now prefers to spend her time 'thinking and wearing clothes' because everyone else has taken her lead and stopped wearing clothes. The 67-year-old Queen of Pop is set to return to the charts next month with her new album, Confessions II, a follow-up to her 2005 release Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Madonna Reflects on Provocative Career

Throughout her decades-long career, the Vogue singer has never shied away from risqué and provocative stunts, including the release of her coffee table book Sex in the 1990s. Just weeks ago, she straddled a speaker in the middle of Times Square as part of a pop-up performance to promote her new era. In a candid new interview with Interview Magazine, Madonna touched on the response to her most provocative moments and the meaning behind her lyrics.

When asked about people who 'tried to take her down,' she clarified: 'Narrow-minded people who are ignorant, who judge first before investigating. Society, basically. The ones that condemn me.' She added that it used to bother her a lot because she felt people did not understand the reasons behind her provocative actions. 'I do a lot of provocative things, but there’s always a reason behind it and nobody bothers to investigate, which can make you want to give up on human beings.'

Criticism of Critical Thinking

Madonna expressed frustration that many people do not think critically or examine what they are looking at or listening to. 'They’re not tuned in to the subtleties and the layers of meanings that exist. And they certainly don’t do it when it comes from a female.' She drew a comparison to Pablo Picasso, noting that despite his poor behaviour towards women, people looked past it because of his great paintings. 'I’m not comparing myself to Picasso, but when a woman does it, now people are more open-minded about women doing provocative things.'

Shift in Attitude Towards Nudity

Madonna acknowledged that societal attitudes towards nudity have changed. 'They’re open-minded about women being naked because now everyone’s naked. Now I don’t want to be naked because everyone’s naked. That’s my nature. I want to do what people are not doing, which is thinking and wearing clothes.'

Upcoming Album and Potential Shows

Madonna is currently gearing up for the release of Confessions II, which she described as a 'love letter to dance music.' The album is set to drop on July 3, seven years after her Madame X album. While a full-scale world tour is not currently in the works, there may be some surprise shows. An insider told the Sun: 'Performing is everything to Madonna and she is going all out to make sure this era is one of her greatest. She’s currently mulling over a number of live show options for a handful of dates. Her last run of shows were all about her legacy, but now she’s reinvigorated to be an innovator.'
