Lexi Jones, the 24-year-old daughter of the late David Bowie, has publicly criticised her friends for failing to reach out to her on what would have been the music icon's 79th birthday. Bowie died on 10 January 2016, two days after his birthday, following a secret battle with liver cancer.
In a selfie shared on Instagram, Lexi wrote: 'Thank you to all the people I don't know who wished me condolences, and f**k you to all of my friends who never texted me at all.' She added: 'I got 1 text! F**k all y'all.' The outburst came after she posted a throwback photo with her father, captioned: 'Da big 79 today. Happy birthday pops, miss ya!'
This incident follows Lexi's recent disclosure of her autism diagnosis, which she described as a 'long and exhausting journey'. In August, she revealed on Instagram that she had been formally diagnosed with autism and ADHD, bringing 'clarity and relief' after years of masking her true self. She shared an essay titled 'The Quiet Effort: Neurodivergence through my lens', detailing her lifelong struggle to fit in.
Lexi explained: 'I never really felt like I belonged anywhere, and it ultimately left me exhausted from masking.' She noted that autism 'does not have one look, one voice, or one way of showing up' and that many women are diagnosed later in life due to societal conditioning to mask their traits.
