Lauren Goodger Announces Heartfelt Book on Daughter's Tragic Passing

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger has revealed she is releasing a deeply personal autobiography that addresses the "unimaginable" death of her newborn baby daughter, Lorena. The 38-year-old reality television personality gave birth to her second daughter in July 2022, but the infant tragically passed away just minutes after delivery due to complications involving the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.

A Mission to Support Other Bereaved Parents

In a poignant announcement made on her Instagram account, Lauren shared that her forthcoming book, titled Mum Of Two, is set to go on sale in July. She expressed that her primary motivation for writing the volume is to "help" other parents who are navigating similar experiences of loss and grief. Lauren explained that during her own darkest moments following Lorena's death, she struggled to find literature that resonated with her situation, prompting her to share her story publicly.

"I am writing Mum of Two as when the unimaginable happened, I couldn’t find a book that helped me during the most difficult times after losing my newborn baby," Lauren wrote in her social media post. "This is my story of loss and grief, and of finding my courage and strength."

Balancing Grief with Motherhood

Lauren has emphasised the daily challenge of maintaining a "brave face" for her four-year-old daughter, Larose, whom she describes as her world. Despite the profound sorrow, she remains committed to being a strong and present mother. "However much I have put on a brave face, it’s been so hard. I am a good mum to Larose, she’s my world. I am strong for her, I have to carry on," she stated.

The reality star added that despite numerous personal battles that have remained largely private, she continues to persevere. "Despite the battles in my life that no one even knows about, I’m still standing. I want to help others by sharing my experiences," Lauren affirmed.

Overwhelming Support from Friends and Fans

Following her announcement, Lauren received an outpouring of support from friends and fellow celebrities in the comments section of her Instagram post. Sophie Kasaei hailed her as the "strongest woman ever", while Junaid Ahmed expressed immense pride. Saffron Lempriere commended Lauren for sharing her wisdom and maintaining her sense of humour despite adversity, and Ella Rae Wise celebrated the achievement as amazing.

This revelation comes after Lauren emotionally discussed the anniversary of Lorena's death last year with her TOWIE co-stars. During that conversation, she opened up about the compounded difficulty of the period, noting that Larose's birthday falls shortly after the anniversary, intensifying her grief. "Obviously it's a really hard day for me. Obviously three years ago I lost Lorena in labour. She should be here and I think it's harder because it's Larose's birthday in two weeks," she shared tearfully.

A Journey of Healing and Advocacy

Lauren explained that she has chosen to speak openly about her loss as part of her healing process, moving away from isolation. "Last year I stayed in with Larose in the garden and now I have to get out and talk about her rather than hiding. I think that's why it's even harder for me because I am on my own," she admitted. Her friends, including Amy Childs, offered unwavering support, assuring her of their availability at any time.

The book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, with Lauren expressing gratitude for the continuous support and love from her followers that has sustained her through this challenging journey.
