Lady Gaga was forced to end her Chromatica Ball concert in Miami on Saturday evening after lightning struck dangerously close to the Hard Rock Stadium. The singer, 36, shared an emotional video on Instagram apologising to fans, explaining that safety concerns for the audience and crew led to the abrupt halt.
In the two-and-a-half-minute clip, Gaga said, 'We really tried to finish the show tonight in Miami,' but added that lightning was striking so close that continuing was impossible. She broke down in tears as she prioritised life over performance, stating, 'What's more worth it to me is life.'
The Grammy winner, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, acknowledged her desire to be a 'hardcore bad b***h' but emphasised the importance of being responsible. She joked about missing the chance to perform 'Rain On Me' in the rain, but insisted the health of everyone involved was paramount.
Gaga also picked up a bouquet of red roses thrown by a fan, vowing to 'cherish them forever.' She thanked her supporters and wished them safe travels home. In a separate post, she wrote, 'My heart I knew it was better to keep you safe. Thank you for believing in me.'
The Miami show marked the final North American date of the Chromatica Ball tour, which supports her 2020 album of the same name. The tour was delayed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic before launching in Düsseldorf in July.
