Kylie Kelce Faces Online Backlash Over Wedding Comments
Kylie Kelce has been heavily criticized online after expressing frustration about people inquiring about the upcoming wedding of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift this summer. The Kansas City Chiefs star is widely anticipated to marry his fiancée Swift in June, less than a year after their engagement in August. However, details about the event remain scarce, with family members, including Kylie, keeping tight-lipped.
Podcast Outburst Sparks Controversy
In a recent episode of her podcast 'Not Gonna Lie', Kylie Kelce slammed those attempting to extract information about the highly-anticipated wedding. She stated, "I just want to say to literally everybody, I know it usually comes from a good place - not always - but quit asking me and my mother-in-law about upcoming nuptials. Nobody is f***ing telling you anything. I don't have any details." Kylie, who is married to Travis's brother and former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, also targeted TMZ specifically for approaching the Kelce family matriarch, Donna, at an airport.
She added, "Stop f***ing asking my mother-in-law, TMZ. F***ing being creeps in the f***ing airport. Ew. Here's the thing, even if I did have any information, I'm not f***ing telling you. That's private information between family." Kylie even suggested a humorous response, saying she might get a headband with LED lights that reads, "Suck my a**," to deter further questions.
Critics Accuse Kylie of Hypocrisy
Despite her strong stance, many observers have labeled Kylie's comments as hypocritical, arguing that she benefits from the fame surrounding Travis and Taylor's relationship. One fan shared a gif from a South Park episode mocking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'Worldwide Privacy Tour', commenting, "Kylie Kelce telling people to stop asking her about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding on the podcast she started for the sole purpose of monetizing her relationship/proximity to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce."
Another critic wrote, "New Heights was an average podcast. Sort of amateurish. It didn’t get popular until Travis started dating Taylor. Kylie used that to leverage her own podcast. The only reason anyone listens to Kylie is Taylor Swift. The ego here is incredible." Similar sentiments were echoed by others, with one noting, "Taylor Swift is the only reason any of the Kelce podcasts got popular. Swifties, who would kill their own grandmothers for more TSwift content, tuned in hoping to find snippets. Nobody else listens to them."
Background and Wedding Details
Kylie Kelce launched her podcast in November 2024, over a year after Swift's relationship with Travis became public when the singer attended a Chiefs NFL game. Her latest remarks have drawn criticism given how she has capitalized on the attention generated by the high-profile couple.
The wedding is expected to take place on June 13 at Swift's $18 million Rhode Island mansion, which features ocean views and expansive lawns. Approximately 150 guests are anticipated, but plans are so secretive that even invited guests are reportedly unaware of the exact date and location. A source revealed to the Daily Mail, "Everybody [loved ones, close friends] has been told to put the summer on hold and they will find out the details right before the wedding."
Another insider indicated that the nuptials will occur before the football season, allowing Travis Kelce to attend his full training camp schedule. Despite speculation about retirement after a 13-season career, Kelce confirmed last month that he will return to the field for the new season in September.
