Mark Consuelos has revealed he received a 'sign' from his late father Saul Consuelos during Mexico's World Cup match against England. The 55-year-old actor's father passed away in March at the age of 87 after a long illness.
Consuelos and his brother travelled to the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City to watch the last-16 game, which England won 3-2. Speaking on 'Live with Kelly and Mark', Consuelos said: 'My dad, he passed away in March, and he was such a Mexico fan, and he would be so happy. So my brother and I are like, “Let’s go make a pilgrimage, let’s go see if we can try to make this game.”'
After a one-hour delay due to a lightning storm, Consuelos said a butterfly landed on his arm. His wife Kelly Ripa noted that the butterfly also landed on his brother's arm. Ripa said: 'I called Elsa and she’s like, “There’s no butterflies in Azteca. That’s Mark’s dad, he came to visit them.”' Consuelos admitted he and his brother 'felt him there'.
Consuelos previously described the five months before his father's death as 'brutal' on the podcast 'I've Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario'. He said: 'I lost my father five weeks ago. It was kind of a brutal five-month saga leading up to him passing.' He added that he prayed for a 'merciful exit' and his father passed 'very quickly and painlessly'.
