Kate Ferdinand Opens Up About 'Emotional Hangover' After Overwhelming Christmas
Kate Ferdinand shares emotional fatigue after festive season

Reality TV star Kate Ferdinand has candidly revealed she is struggling with an 'emotional December hangover' following an intense festive period spent with family in London. The 34-year-old, who recently relocated to Dubai with her husband Rio Ferdinand and their children, shared her feelings of fatigue and pressure in a heartfelt social media update.

The Struggle with Festive Pressure

In a video posted on Sunday, Kate explained that she does not have her usual 'kickstart January' energy. 'I'm not feeling myself,' she admitted. 'I don't want to do my usual activities and I feel highly emotional.' She described the unique pressures parents face in December, striving to create a perfect Christmas while balancing work and family commitments.

Kate highlighted the complex emotions of reuniting with loved ones. 'We see family that we really miss and that feeling of missing them,' she said, adding that sometimes they also have to see relatives they 'don't really like' and revert to childhood roles, which contributes to the emotional strain.

Listening to Her Body in the New Year

The former TOWIE star spoke openly about feeling societal pressure to transform in January, particularly regarding fitness. She confessed she intended to post a workout video but found her body 'coming to a halt' due to extreme fatigue. 'I've been very emotional and I think it's ok to not be ok,' she reassured her followers.

Kate has decided to make January a month of rest and self-care, prioritising listening to her body over pushing herself to extremes. 'It doesn't have to be the reset month,' she emphasised, sending love to others who might be feeling similarly.

A New Chapter in Dubai

This period of reflection comes after a significant life change for the family. In August, Kate and Rio, 46, swapped their life in south-east London for a new home in the sun-soaked desert of the United Arab Emirates. They returned to London for Christmas before jetting back to their lavish Dubai mansion.

The couple's new home is in the exclusive Al Barari community. A property in the area was listed earlier this year for around £6.5 million. Kate recently gave fans a glimpse inside, showcasing its modern interiors and spacious living areas during a cosy pyjama day with her children.

Rio, the former Manchester United and England defender, has explained that the move was motivated by a desire for a fresh start, better lifestyle, safety, and the education system for their kids. The couple share son Cree, four, and daughter Shae, two, and Kate is stepmother to Rio's three older children from his late wife, Rebecca Ellison.

Despite the challenges of the festive season, Kate's message remains one of honesty and self-compassion, encouraging others to acknowledge when they need to slow down and prioritise their wellbeing.
