Coronation Street's Daisy Midgeley Actress Aims to Outdo Tracy Barlow as Iconic Bad Girl

Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street, has set her sights on making her character even more villainous than the soap's notorious Tracy Barlow. The 25-year-old actress joined the ITV series last year as the manipulative step-daughter of Rovers Return landlady Jenny Connor.

Speaking about her ambitions for the role, Jordan said: 'I’d love her to be an iconic bad girl, why not? I don’t know what the long-term plans are, but she’s somebody who will do whatever needs to be done to protect herself. That makes her quite dangerous, so I actually think potentially she could be as bad as Tracy Barlow.'

Jordan, whose boyfriend's family are devoted Coronation Street fans, recalled an awkward encounter with veteran actor David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper. Mistaking her for a wardrobe assistant, Neilson asked for help finding his character's clothes. Jordan said: 'I was new and he mistook me for a wardrobe assistant. He asked if I wouldn’t mind getting him some clothing and for some reason instead of just introducing myself I was like, “Yes, let me go and find out, what would you like to wear today?” This was David Neilson after all.'

Before joining the soap, Jordan was scouted for a pop band at age 16 but the group never launched. She later signed a solo development deal, but it also fell through. 'It was only when I got a bit older that I realised acting was what I wanted,' she said. Her previous roles include Gaby Grant in Netflix series Free Rein. After lockdown paused filming, Jordan auditioned for Coronation Street, worried about mastering a northern accent. She said: 'That was the thing I was most concerned about. I’m normally quite a good parrot, but I’ve always thought the northern accent was quite a challenging one for me.'
