Jennifer Lawrence: 'I Identify as a Stay-at-Home Mum' Amid Hectic Career
Jennifer Lawrence Says She's a 'Stay-at-Home Mum'

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has made a surprising declaration about her personal life, stating that she fundamentally identifies as a 'stay-at-home mum' despite her global film star status.

Balancing Hollywood and Home Life

The 35-year-old star of Die My Love and The Hunger Games opened up about her daily routine during a candid appearance on the Smartless podcast this week. Lawrence, who shares three-year-old son Cy and a baby born last year with husband Cooke Maroney, explained that her life is only frantically busy during intense movie press tours.

"That's me. I identify as a stay-at-home mum. But I am obviously working," Lawrence stated. She elaborated that her typical work pattern involves a focused three-month period while filming, which she finds "calm" due to its singular focus. "I just go to work, I do that, I come home, I sleep, and then I do it again. And then, like, two weeks while you promote – it is hectic."

Prioritising Family and Routine

The actress revealed strict personal boundaries to protect her family time. She refuses to do interviews after 9pm, preferring to be in bed with her Kindle. This commitment was highlighted over the recent Christmas period, when she turned down a party invitation because it started at 9pm, noting she had no desire to be hungover around her young children.

"You can't be hungover with a nine-month-old. Even a three-year-old is just not an option," she quipped. Lawrence also shared the secret to keeping her marriage to art gallery director Cooke Maroney, 41, "alive," describing them as total opposites. She credited his organised nature as an "anchor" for their family.

"We've learned, to keep our marriage alive, I have a 15-minute wiggle room," she admitted, citing her attention deficit disorder (ADD) as a reason she struggles with tight timing, and joking she might need occupational therapy for it.

A Daring Red Carpet Return

Lawrence's comments follow a rare award show appearance with her husband at the Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday night. The actress made a stunning return to the spotlight in a sheer, floral-embroidered Givenchy gown by Sarah Burton, which she accessorised with a matching cape.

When asked about hitting the after-parties, she humorously told ET, "I'm going to hang. I'm naked, I might as well," while also noting her children would have preferred she stayed home. This marked her boldest red-carpet look since the 2017 London premiere of Mother.

Professionally, Lawrence's recent film Die My Love, co-starring Robert Pattinson, sees her playing a new mother grappling with postpartum depression. She has said her own experiences as a mum of two, particularly facing postpartum anxiety after her second child, helped her connect deeply with the role.
