Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence has offered a rare and candid glimpse into her private family life, speaking openly about her marriage to art dealer Cooke Maroney and the realities of parenting their two young children.
Opposites Attract: Lawrence on Her "Anchor" Husband
The 35-year-old Oscar winner made the personal revelations while appearing on the popular SmartLess podcast this Monday. Lawrence described her husband of six years as her complete opposite, a grounding force in her life. "I married somebody who is the opposite of me. He is so organized," she explained. "He is an anchor. Everything is ordered."
She humorously noted the domestic adjustments this has required, such as being tasked with keeping closet doors closed. "I have my little jobs that I work really hard to do," the actress added, highlighting the conscious effort behind their partnership.
Strict Schedules and a 15-Minute Marriage Rule
The couple are proud parents to three-year-old son, Cy, named after the painter Cy Twombly, and a second child born in March who is rumoured to be named Louie. Lawrence, who was born in Kentucky, revealed that maintaining order with two young children is a military operation. "[The kids are] on a very strict schedule. You know, it's like breakfast, 7:30," she stated.
While Maroney excels at keeping the family timetable, Lawrence confessed that a key lesson for their marital harmony involves a small concession for her more spontaneous nature. "We've learned, to keep our marriage alive? I have a 15-minute wiggle room," she said. "I'm ADD and I think I should go to occupational therapy for that."
From Supermarket Runs to Future Films
Lawrence and the 41-year-old former Gladstone Gallery director first met in 2018 through her No Hard Feelings director Gene Stupnitsky, marrying a year later at the Belcourt of Newport mansion in Rhode Island. In a past interview with Vanity Fair, she gushed about the simple joy of grocery shopping with him, seeing it as a metaphor for their collaborative marriage.
Professionally, Lawrence awaits news on January 22 of a potential Academy Award nomination for her performance as a mother with postpartum depression in Die My Love. The film, a Lynne Ramsay adaptation, has earned $11.5 million globally and holds a 74% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Looking ahead, the actress is "excited" to reunite with her Don't Look Up co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for Martin Scorsese's horror film What Happens at Night. She will also reprise her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, due in 2026, and star in the Bravo-inspired murder mystery The Wives.
