Jack Osbourne was overcome with emotion during his time on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, breaking down in tears as he spoke about the recent death of his legendary father, Ozzy Osbourne.
A Heartfelt Confession
In a candid conversation with his campmate, Lisa Riley, Jack struggled to contain his feelings. Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic 'Prince of Darkness', died in July at the age of 76. The joint causes of his death were listed as an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction.
His passing came just days after he performed a farewell concert with his legendary band, Black Sabbath, at Villa Park in Birmingham. Reflecting on this, Jack told Lisa, "It was definitely a shock. I mean, we knew he was sick for a while, but it was definitely a shock. We didn't know it would be that quick... It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a massive big gig and was like, 'Alright, I'm done.'"
Navigating Fresh Grief
Speaking from the privacy of the Bush Telegraph, Jack opened up about the difficult process of grieving. He described the feeling as a "weird thing" and admitted he is still trying to process the loss. "I'm still navigating it all," he confessed. "It's been three, nearly four months, and it's still pretty fresh."
Jack revealed that he has the full support of his mother, Sharon, and his sister, Kelly, to be in the jungle, with the entire famous family tuning in to watch his progress. However, he acknowledged the difficulty of leaving his own family behind while they are all still mourning.
"It's absolutely going to be hard leaving them behind," Jack said. "I have got lots of kids, my wife, and my family still in the wake of my dad passing. It is going to be difficult, that is for sure."
A Last-Minute Decision for the Jungle
The reality star signed up for the show just ten days before flying to Australia and admitted he had to think carefully about the commitment. He explained that the intrigue of the challenge was a major factor in his decision, alongside a desire to make his family proud.
In July, the Osbourne family released a statement confirming the devastating news, saying, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love."
Ozzy's bandmate, Geezer Butler, offered a poignant final memory, noting that while Ozzy was "frail", he had been "thrilled" to take the stage for his final performance at Villa Park.
