Russian supermodel Irina Shayk has offered a rare glimpse into her co-parenting relationship with former fiancé Bradley Cooper, revealing how they're raising their eight-year-old daughter Lea De Seine away from the Hollywood spotlight.
A Digital-Free Childhood
The 39-year-old model told People magazine that their daughter has "very, very little digital access, almost down to none" as part of their conscious parenting approach. Shayk emphasised that instead of screen time, they focus on building community, friends and just giving love to their young daughter.
"This is the best thing that you could give to your kid, raising them in a loving family," the Society Management model explained during her Monday interview. She added that despite both parents having high-profile careers, they make concerted efforts to ensure Lea feels comfortable with their public lives.
Protecting From Beauty Standards
Shayk, born Irina Shaykhlislamova, expressed particular concern about modern beauty standards and her determination to shield their daughter from their influence. "I just feel like there are so many beauty standards out there that, of course, I try to protect my daughter from," she revealed.
The model described feeling particularly empowered in her current life stage, stating: "I'm literally in the right time in my life. I'm a mother and I know who I am, I know what I stand for." This self-assurance appears to inform her parenting decisions and approach to raising Lea.
A Collaborative Co-Parenting Dynamic
Despite ending their four-year romance in 2019, Shayk and the 50-year-old actor-director maintain an impressively collaborative approach to parenting. They share 50/50 joint legal and physical custody of their daughter and notably employ no nannies, handling childcare responsibilities themselves.
Cooper previously spoke to E! News about their daughter's unique upbringing within the entertainment industry, noting: "She's part of [Hollywood]. I was making A Star is Born when she was born and then Maestro, she's in." He described how Lea even participates in his professional life, reviewing casting auditions together and offering her opinions.
The family dynamic extends to their social circles too, with Hadid's five-year-old daughter Khai - from her previous relationship with Zayn Malik - becoming regular playmates with Lea. This modern blended family arrangement appears to be working successfully for all involved.
Shayk previously told ELLE magazine in 2023 that they "take Lea everywhere with us" and praised Cooper as "the best father Lea and I could dream of," indicating their positive co-parenting relationship continues to thrive years after their separation.
