Hong Kong television presenter Lillian Sze passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 57, less than one month after publicly disclosing her ovarian cancer diagnosis. The announcement was made via a joint statement from her close friends and family on social media.
Final Days and Announcement
According to the statement, Sze died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. It read: "Dear friends, fans, and everyone who has always cared about Lillian: It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Lillian Shi Keying passed away peacefully this morning (June 21, 2026) surrounded by her loved ones and family." The statement further noted that Sze faced life with a positive attitude, even during her illness, and asked for privacy as they arranged her afterlife.
Sze had confirmed her ovarian cancer diagnosis on Instagram in late May 2026. She revealed that a 10cm ovarian tumour discovered in October 2025 had grown to 17cm, roughly the size of a five-month foetus. After surgery, she learned the tumour had become cancerous and spread. She underwent further surgery in April 2026 to remove her uterus and was expected to resume normal life after six sessions of chemotherapy.
Health Struggles and Body Donation
However, Sze later shared that she had stopped chemotherapy because her body became too weak to continue treatment. She said: "But after surgery, I found out that the condition was more serious than I thought, and even to save my life, I now have a stoma." She explained that she initially intended to work while undergoing treatment but had to reject many work invitations due to her deteriorating health.
Prior to her death, Sze also confirmed her decision to donate her body for medical research, stating: "I hope I can help more students in the future, and I believe you will support my move."
Career and Tributes
A celebrated content creator, Sze regularly worked for ViuTV and was known for hosting entertainment events and fan meet-and-greets for South Korean artists. Following the news of her death, tributes poured in across social media. One user wrote: "Although the time I spent with you, Lillian, was short, it was filled with happy memories. I will always remember your optimism and ever-smiling face. Let's go see the cherry blossoms together again sometime." Another said: "You've become the brightest star. We'll remember your kindness and goodness. RIP." A third added: "I'll always remember your positive and optimistic smile and your dedicated work ethic. RIP."
