Holly Ramsay and Olympic champion Adam Peaty lavished their 200 wedding guests with gifts worth a reported £40,000 in a grand gesture of thanks for their support during a tumultuous family rift.
A Lavish Thank You Amid Family Strife
The couple tied the knot at Bath Abbey on Saturday, December 27, in a ceremony that saw most of the swimmer's own family notably absent. It is understood a bitter feud led to the majority of Peaty's relatives, including his mother Caroline, being banned from the event. In light of this, the newlyweds felt deeply indebted to the friends and family who did attend to celebrate with them.
Their gratitude materialised in the form of extravagant presents for every attendee. The standout gift was a bottle of tequila, personally engraved with the couple's initials, valued at around £190 each. A source close to the couple revealed, "Holly and Adam were incredibly generous to their guests, lavishing them all with a bottle of tequila embossed with their own initials."
Commemorative Keepsakes and Bridesmaid Gifts
Guests also received a commemorative t-shirt featuring a charming illustration of Holly and Adam driving a car and waving joyfully, symbolising the start of their life journey together. The couple's three bridesmaids, which included the groom's sister Bethany, were treated to even more personalised luxuries.
Each bridesmaid was gifted pots of the acclaimed Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, with each pot worth approximately £79. "The bride and groom really pushed the boat out," the insider added. "No matter the turbulence behind the scenes they wanted the wedding to be perfect. And it was."
Gordon Ramsay's Fiery Speech and Ceremony Details
The father of the bride, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, made a proud and fiery speech at the reception. He reportedly told guests he had spent an astonishing £50,000 on flowers for the big day. In a touching moment, he declared that his wife, Tana, would now be a mother figure to both Holly and Adam, stating, "Tana will be a good mum to them both."
He also playfully teased his daughter about her floral arrangements, joking that "only Holly could pick the most beautiful church and choose to cover its stunning windows in white roses." The service at Bath Abbey included hymns such as Come Down O Love Divine, and one of the readings is believed to have been Psalm 127, which speaks of the blessings of children—a potential hint at the couple's future family plans.
Adam Peaty himself addressed the difficult backdrop of the day in his speech. The Olympian, originally from Staffordshire, turned poignantly to his former swimming coach, Mel Marshall, 43, who has acted as a surrogate parent throughout his stellar career, subtly acknowledging the pain caused by the estrangement from his own family.
Holly, who wore a bridal cape over her dress, is set to showcase her wedding gown in the latest issue of Vogue magazine. A source confirmed this was a major coup for the bride, who had always dreamed of featuring in the iconic fashion publication.
