Helen Flanagan Reveals She's 'Living Out of a Bin Bag' After Travelodge Drama
Helen Flanagan: Living Out of Bin Bag After Travelodge Incident

Helen Flanagan's Unconventional Tour Packing: A Bin Bag Instead of a Suitcase

Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has given fans a candid glimpse into her life on the road, revealing an unusual packing strategy that involves ditching traditional luggage entirely. The 35-year-old star, currently touring the UK in the Easter pantomime 'Mother Goose', confessed she is now "living out of a bin bag" after growing frustrated with the hassle of dragging a suitcase between locations.

ADHD and Organisation Challenges Lead to Creative Solution

In a social media update, Flanagan openly discussed how her ADHD influences her organisational skills, or lack thereof. Laughing at herself, she explained that organisation is "not my strong point – obviously ADHD". This admission came as she showed followers her makeshift setup: a white bin bag stuffed with her belongings, which she brought to the theatre.

"I could not cope with lugging my suitcase around any further," she said, turning the camera to display the bin bag. "I turned up to the theatre with a bag like this. I can’t cope with a suitcase any longer!" The actress emphasised she is having a "fun time" on the tour, having performed two shows in Wales, but her packing woes highlight the practical challenges of life on tour.

Travelodge Incident Escalates to Police Threat

Flanagan's tour experiences took a dramatic turn during a stay at a Travelodge hotel in Northampton. She recounted a tense run-in that occurred when she overslept past the standard midday check-out time. Woken by staff banging on her door at noon, Flanagan apologised and requested a quick shower before leaving.

However, the situation quickly escalated. "She said 'no you can't have a shower, you need to get out now before I ring the police,'" Flanagan recalled. The actress, who was due on her period and struggling with sleep, became emotional, stating she needed "a bit of respect" and disliked being away from her children. Her friend, Matt Wright, helped her during the ordeal.

To add to her difficulties, Flanagan later discovered there were no shower facilities at the theatre, making the day "worse". In response, Travelodge issued a statement: "We are sorry to hear that Helen was disappointed with her stay. We have reached out to her directly and are speaking with the hotel team to understand what happened on this occasion."

Balancing Tour Life with Upcoming TV Appearances

Despite the disruptions, Flanagan is preparing to return to television screens. She is set to appear on MTV's Celebrity Ex On The Beach, a show she has always loved. "When I was asked, it was November and freezing in the UK, and I just thought, 'How fun? I was single, so why not?'" she said.

Reflecting on the experience, Flanagan highlighted the positive aspects, particularly the "girl time" with a "gorgeous group of girls." "I don’t often get that kind of social time in my everyday life. I’m usually juggling work and the kids, so it felt really special to just be present and enjoy it," she added. The show promises explosive twists and emotional confrontations, but for Flanagan, it was about more than just drama.

As she continues her theatre tour with her bin bag in tow, Flanagan's story underscores the unpredictable nature of life on the road, blending humour, vulnerability, and resilience in the face of logistical challenges.
