Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has shared a humorous anecdote about his emotional reaction to discovering the price tag of his daughter Holly's wedding dress. The television personality, aged 59, made the lighthearted confession during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in the United States.
A Father's Emotional Moment
Ramsay described the poignant moment when he first saw his daughter in her wedding gown during her recent marriage to Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty. The ceremony took place last month at the historic Bath Abbey, though Ramsay notably avoided discussing the reported family feud that saw Peaty's mother Caroline disinvited from the event.
"I was very emotional," Ramsay laughed during the interview. "I was crying because I realised how expensive the dress was there. That is when it suddenly hit me." The celebrity chef went on to describe the transformative moment of seeing his daughter as a bride.
Family Reflections and Relationship Advice
Ramsay, who has been married to his wife Tana for three decades, shared the relationship wisdom he passed on to the newlyweds. "The secret to any great relationship is not just communication but time together," he revealed. "Dating, dinners, cinema, jogging. We do triathlons together."
The father of six spoke warmly about the wedding experience, saying: "We have six kids, three girls, three boys. Her mother Tana is amazing. But seeing your daughter there for the first time when you come down [the stairs of the venue] and you just see this little girl transform into this amazing lady - it just gets you."
Lavish Honeymoon Continues
The newly married couple have been sharing glimpses of their extravagant honeymoon, which began at the luxurious One&Only Le Saint Géran resort in Mauritius where suites can cost over £6,000 per night. The property has hosted numerous celebrities over the years including Nelson Mandela, George and Amal Clooney, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Holly and Adam have since continued their romantic getaway in Australia, staying at the five-star Mondrian Gold Coast in Queensland. The couple have been documenting their adventures on social media, from early morning hikes to alfresco breakfasts and swimming sessions.
Culinary Tribute to Father
During their Mauritian stay, the couple paid tribute to Holly's famous father by participating in a private cooking masterclass. Holly shared photographs on Instagram showing the pair shopping at local markets before learning to prepare a traditional Mauritian curry.
"Morning at the local market and then straight to the kitchen to learn how to make a Mauritian curry, yes chef @adamramsaypeaty!!" she captioned the series of images that showed her new husband dressed in chef's whites.
The wedding dress that prompted Ramsay's emotional reaction was reportedly inspired by the Alexander McQueen gown worn by Kate Middleton at her 2011 wedding to Prince William. Despite the lighthearted comments about the dress's cost, Ramsay's interview focused primarily on the joy of the occasion and his happiness for the newly married couple.
