An England football fan has been hailed a "hero" and "legendary" after his interruption was caught on live TV. The Sky News presenter issued an apology after the incident, which occurred outside the Atlanta Stadium following England's 2-1 semi-final loss to Argentina on Wednesday.
Fan Interrupts Live Broadcast
While England fans across the country were left devastated by the match, one man appeared cheerful as he interrupted the Sky News presenter. She had been discussing the possibility of Argentina facing a FIFA punishment after celebrating their win with a banner reading "Las Malvinas son Argentinas" (the Falklands are Argentinian).
The British overseas territory sits 300 miles off Argentina's east coast, with the country disputing that it belongs to Britain and going to war in 1982 before surrendering to British forces. FIFA already hit Argentina with a £20,000 fine in 2014 for holding up a similar banner, and Argentina once again risked punishment.
Fan's Reaction Goes Viral
Reacting to the news, the England fan asked the presenter: "Are you talking about the Falklands?" He was swiftly escorted away while singing "Don't cry for them, Argentina." The reporter apologized, saying: "I'm sorry about that. There's been a lot of fans who had a lot of alcohol today."
Viewers were left howling at the clip as it made rounds on social media. One wrote: "Bahahaaaa I doubt he will remember this." Another laughed: "My God, this is shameful." Someone else said: "Should've given him the mic." Another fan called him a "top lad," while one said: "My hero."
