Emmerdale's Daisy Campbell: 'I Sacrificed My Childhood for the Show'

Daisy Campbell has spoken out about her shock departure from Emmerdale after 13 years, revealing the decision left her 'in a dark hole'. The actress, now 22, joined the ITV soap at age seven as Amelia Spencer and was suddenly axed last year.

Campbell told The Sun she sensed something was wrong when her contract failed to arrive under a new producer. 'It was upsetting, because I loved it,' she said. 'You always think selfishly, like, why is this happening? Like, why me?'

Reflecting on her childhood on set, Campbell admitted she missed out on school life but has no regrets. 'I feel like I did miss out a lot during my childhood... but I wouldn't change it,' she said. 'Emmerdale's the most stable job you will have in an acting career.'

After her character was written out, Campbell quickly landed a one-off role on Casualty, but struggled once filming ended. 'I had a lot of time to think,' she said, describing the subsequent months as 'depressing'.

Seeking stability, Campbell invested her savings into a new venture: a Pilates studio in a 200-year-old courthouse in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, set to open next month. 'I want to take a bad situation... and put it into something positive,' she explained.

Despite focusing on her business, Campbell insists she hasn't given up acting. 'Acting is something I can never let go of, but for now this business comes first,' she said.
