Pierre Deny, the French actor known for playing Louis de Léon in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris,” has died at the age of 69. His daughters confirmed his death on Wednesday, attributing it to complications from a sudden and severe case of ALS.
Deny appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of the hit series as the CEO of luxury fashion company JVMA and father of Nicolas, played by Paul Forman. His character was the father of Mindy’s love interest.
Beyond “Emily in Paris,” Deny had a prolific career spanning more than 100 films and series in France. He was particularly well-known for his long-running roles in the French soap operas “Plus belle la vie” and “Demain nous appartient,” appearing in over 500 episodes combined.
His other credits include “Une femme d’honneur,” “Julie Lescaut,” “L’Instit,” “Joséphine, ange gardien,” “La Nouvelle Maud,” “Camping Paradis,” and “Braquo.”
Meanwhile, “Emily in Paris” began filming its sixth and final season in Greece last week. Series creator Darren Star expressed gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans, saying, “Making ‘Emily in Paris’ with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime.”
