Staff at the Ellen DeGeneres Show are reportedly 'freaking out' over a series of allegations of a toxic work environment, with many fearing the show may be cancelled. Insiders say the team is worried that the host will quit or the programme will be axed amid claims of sexual assault and misconduct by producers.
One source told Us Weekly: 'Staffers are texting and calling each other freaking out as they fear Ellen will quit or that the show will be cancelled. The show feels done. It's going to be very hard to turn this around.'
DailyMail.com has learned that DeGeneres is telling executives at Telepictures and Warner Bros that she wants to walk away from the show. A Telepictures insider said: 'She feels she can't go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show.'
Former staff have criticised DeGeneres for shifting blame to her executive producers in an apology memo. One staffer said: 'Don't think for a minute anything she has said in that apology means anything. She created and then enabled this toxic culture to go on for so long.'
The claims of a toxic work environment were first reported earlier this month by current and former employees who accused executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner of bullying. WarnerMedia has since launched an investigation into the show.
