In a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, veteran comedian and writer Greg Fitzsimmons has made a startling allegation against Ellen DeGeneres. Fitzsimmons claims the beloved talk show host was known to use one of the most offensive expletives in the English language behind the scenes.
The claims emerged during a recent episode of Fitzsimmons' own podcast, 'Fitzdog Radio', where he recounted a story involving fellow comedian and actor, Kevin Nealon. According to Fitzsimmons, Nealon once questioned him about the stark contrast between DeGeneres's on-screen kindness and her alleged off-camera behaviour.
'The Nicest, Meanest Person'
"He goes, 'Isn't Ellen the nicest person in the world? Or is she the c*** that I hear about?'" Fitzsimmons recalled Nealon asking. In a moment of brutal honesty, Fitzsimmons stated he replied to Nealon with a blunt and unambiguous confirmation: "She is that c***."
This explosive anecdote adds fuel to a long-smouldering fire. For years, rumours and reports have circulated about a toxic atmosphere on the set of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', painting a picture that drastically contradicted the show's public motto, "be kind."
A Pattern of Allegations
Fitzsimmons's comments are far from an isolated incident. They echo a 2020 internal investigation by WarnerMedia into the show's workplace environment, which was prompted by numerous staff complaints. The investigation led to the dismissal of several top producers and culminated in DeGeneres herself publicly apologising to her staff for the "things that shouldn't have happened" on her watch.
Despite the show's conclusion in 2022, these new allegations ensure that the conversation around the disconnect between DeGeneres's public and private personas is far from over. Fitzsimmons, who has written for DeGeneres in the past, has positioned his revelation not as a personal attack but as a candid insight into the complex realities of the entertainment business.
