John Grimes, one half of pop duo Jedward, has disclosed that the villa for Celebrity Ex On The Beach was placed under a security lockdown after fans attempted to gain entry. The former X Factor contestant, 34, is appearing in the fourth series of the Paramount+ show, which began airing in March.
The programme, filmed in Tenerife, sees celebrities meet new partners before their former flames arrive. Grimes told The Sun that people knew the villa's location and tried to get into the grounds. 'It was the only lit up place in a desolate area,' he said, adding that producers were adamant they were trying to film and security stopped anyone from entering.
Grimes, who rose to fame with twin brother Edward in 2009, described the experience of going solo on the show. He admitted initial hesitation but received encouragement from Edward and Gemma Collins. He also revealed he sought his brother's advice before agreeing to take part, with Edward suggesting he should do it to potentially reignite an old romance.
That romance proved to be with his ex-girlfriend Sarah Carragher, who appeared on the show. Grimes recently announced via social media that the pair are back together. However, the decision has reportedly angered producers, as a source claimed the revelation undermined the show's storylines, which rely on viewers tuning in to see whether couples reconcile.
The source added that while bosses are unhappy, they do not believe it was intentional. Carragher is said to be nervous about the sudden attention, and Grimes wanted to show his support. The show also features Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan, Love Island's Toby Aromolaran and Curtis Pritchard, and Towie's Dani Imbert among others.
