Davina McCall's New Year Message: Health Battle, New Husband & Masked Singer Return
Davina McCall shares health update and thanks new husband

Television presenter Davina McCall has shared an emotional and uplifting New Year's message with her followers, reflecting on a year defined by significant personal challenges, a new marriage, and a return to our screens.

A Year of Profound Challenges and Joy

The 58-year-old star, who is set to return as host of ITV's The Masked Singer this weekend, faced a series of serious health scares. In late 2024, she underwent an operation for a benign brain tumour. Then, just 12 months later, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

McCall discovered a lump in her breast while filming for the popular guessing show. She acted swiftly, getting it examined. "It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early which is incredibly lucky," she explained in a previous update. She underwent a lumpectomy at London's Royal Marsden Hospital last October.

Finding Love and Support Amid the Storm

Amidst this difficult period, Davina found profound personal happiness. In December, she married celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas in an intimate ceremony in Kent. The couple had become engaged earlier in the year while in Ibiza.

In her recent Instagram video, Davina made a point of thanking her new husband for his unwavering support. "I'm just sending you all a big New Year's hug and so is my husband Michael," she said, deliberately emphasising the word 'husband'. She acknowledged that 2025 had been "quite a big year" and expressed gratitude for the kindness she found on social media during her health struggles.

Looking Forward to 2026 and a New Series

Now in a "much more positive place," McCall is focusing on the future. She promoted her 'Begin Again' podcast, which will feature a "Reset Month" in January designed to help listeners "kick 2026's a***". Her message of resilience was warmly received by fans, who flooded the comments with support and well-wishes for her health and happiness.

Professionally, Davina is immediately returning to work. The Masked Singer launches its new series on ITV1 on Saturday, January 3 at 6.30pm. The show promises a twist for its opening episodes: a full band will accompany the mystery celebrities for the first time, with the panel tasked with identifying the lead singer.
