Crystal Harris Marries for the Second Time, Reveals Shocking Truth About Hugh Hefner
Crystal Harris, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has tied the knot once again, nine years after his death. In a candid revelation, the former model admitted she never truly loved her first husband, Hugh Hefner, and described their relationship as emotionally abusive.
A New Chapter in the Cook Islands
This Thursday, Crystal, now 39, exchanged vows with Hawaiian businessman James Ward, 42, in an intimate ceremony held in the remote Cook Islands. The couple opted for a private affair with no guests, seeking a peaceful and authentic setting to start their new life together.
"We didn’t want a huge production," Crystal told People magazine. "We wanted something quiet and personal where we could really be present with each other and the moment. We chose the Cook Islands because of how remote it is. There are no big chain hotels, which makes it feel incredibly peaceful and authentic. Since James and I both love the ocean and nature, it felt like the perfect place for us to start this chapter of our lives."
Confessions About Her Marriage to Hugh Hefner
Crystal was just 24 years old when she married Hugh Hefner in 2012, who was 60 years her senior. She served as his sole caregiver until his death in 2017. However, in her memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, she confessed that her feelings for Hefner were never romantic.
"I was never in love with Hef, but I loved this old man in the ways you are supposed to love your elders," she wrote. "In the ways you are supposed to love someone who is nearing the end of a long and complicated life."
She further described life in the Playboy Mansion as far from a fairy tale, stating it was a place of power dynamics and control rather than love and happiness.
Emotional Abuse and Lack of Intimacy
Crystal did not hold back in her criticism of Hefner, labeling him "emotionally abusive" and revealing that their sexual relationship was unsatisfying and mechanical. She recounted their first encounter at a Halloween party as "odd and robotic," suggesting Hefner was merely going through the motions.
"There was nothing sexy about it," she said. "It was about power and control and leverage. It was a performance. I was auditioning for a part."
She speculated that Hefner's wealth and influence shielded him from constructive criticism, allowing him to maintain his own narrative without challenge.
Financial Aftermath and Moving On
Despite not being explicitly named in Hefner's will, Crystal received a substantial payout as his spouse at the time of his death. He also left her a Hollywood Hills home in trust, which she later sold. The remainder of Hefner's fortune was distributed among his four children, a university, and various charities.
Now, with her marriage to James Ward, Crystal expresses genuine happiness and fulfillment. "With James, my feelings are valued, validated," she raved, emphasizing that she has finally found the man of her dreams after years of emotional turmoil.
This new union marks a stark contrast to her past, as she leaves behind the shadows of the Playboy era for a life of authenticity and love.
