WAG's Fashionable Misfortune: The Heels Incident
Cheshire was the scene on Monday where Coleen Rooney was photographed still relying on her orthopaedic boot, a visible reminder of an unfortunate accident. The 39-year-old WAG sustained a broken foot after tripping in her heels during the lively celebrations for her husband Wayne's 40th birthday party.
In a curious twist, the injury occurred while Wayne himself was confidently navigating a pair of stilettos, dressed as the iconic Freddie Mercury. The former footballer had mastered the towering footwear for a fancy dress party, but it was his fashion-forward wife who suffered the nasty fall, losing her footing and fracturing a bone.
A Casual Outing and a Royal Pickup
Leaving a beauty salon, Coleen cut a casual figure, opting for comfort in a £70 Adanola jumper and black leggings. She appeared preoccupied, engaged in a phone conversation during her walk. The school run and her salon appointment were facilitated by Wayne, who was spotted picking her up in their Range Rover, even making a stop at a petrol station while she was inside.
The birthday festivities, a surprise organised by Coleen, had taken place in the Cotswolds. One evening featured the now-infamous fancy dress party where Wayne fully committed to his Freddie Mercury persona. His outfit was a direct homage to the Queen frontman's look from the 1984 I Want to Break Free video, complete with a leather skirt, a skintight t-shirt, and, of course, the high heels.
Wayne recounted the irony on his podcast, 'The Wayne Rooney Show', stating, "It was great, one night was fancy dress. I was Freddie Mercury... I was walking round with a hoover but my feet were intact. Colleen actually slipped in her heels and broke her foot."
A Familiar Boot and Past Controversy
This is not the first time Coleen has had to wear an Aircast boot for a foot injury. Back in March 2022, she sustained a fracture just below her little toe after a fall at her home. That particular boot gained significant public attention because she wore it daily while attending the High Court for the 'Wagatha Christie' libel trial against Rebekah Vardy in May 2022.
During the trial, Vardy hinted that Coleen might be exaggerating the injury for sympathy. However, Coleen later definitively shut down those claims by sharing an X-ray of her clearly broken foot on the social media platform X after the boot was finally removed in August 2022.
