Singer and TV star Cheryl offered a rare look at her nine-year-old son Bear during a poignant Disney World trip honouring his late father Liam Payne, with fans quickly noticing one heartwarming similarity.
Family Getaway to Disney World
Cheryl, known for fiercely protecting her son's privacy, shared a rare peek at Bear while on a family getaway to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The journey held special significance as it was reportedly undertaken in tribute to Bear's late father, Liam Payne, who died in 2024.
Cheryl described the fortnight-long trip as an opportunity to "escape into my inner child," posting on Instagram that "somewhere in the corners of the world magic still exists."
The star was accompanied by Liam's sister, Ruth Gibbins, along with Ruth's husband and son. Ruth noted the visit was "bittersweet" given her brother's affection for the resort.
The party was spotted experiencing various attractions, including Hollywood Studios, where Cheryl and Bear wore matching grey tracksuits, Toy Story Mania!, the Floating Mountains of Pandora in Animal Kingdom, and a performance by Mickey Mouse.
Fans Notice Bear's Growth and Liam's Walk
Upon seeing Cheryl's Instagram upload, followers were astonished by how much Bear has grown, with many remarking that the nine-year-old is almost as tall as his mum. Liam passed away on October 16, 2024, aged 31, after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A post-mortem examination and a subsequent UK inquest confirmed the medical cause of death was polytrauma—multiple traumatic injuries.
Bear was born in 2017 after Cheryl and Liam, who met on The X Factor, started dating a year earlier. They publicly confirmed their split on July 1, 2018, after a two-and-a-half-year relationship. Their joint statement described the separation as a "tough decision" reached while they still had "so much love for each other as a family."
Liam later admitted that relentless public scrutiny made it hard to lead a "normal" life, with even stepping outside becoming a source of tension. At the time, Liam was heavily immersed in his solo career, requiring lengthy stints in the US, while Cheryl raised Bear at home.
