Bruce Willis, 70, was seen smiling during a car ride through Los Angeles on Thursday, days after his wife Emma Heming Willis revealed the actor now lives separately for round-the-clock care. The Die Hard star, diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, appeared in good spirits as a driver took the vehicle for a car wash, with Willis relaxing in the front passenger seat wearing stylish black sunglasses.
Emma Heming Willis recently disclosed in her new book, 'The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path,' that moving Bruce into a separate residence was her 'hardest decision.' She described telling their daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, that the care he requires is changing and must be more tailored to his every need, while they need a home suited to their own needs.
Emma explained that Bruce's new residence is set up as a 'second home' for the family, where the girls can keep personal items and stay with him whenever they wish. Despite the painful decision, she emphasised it reflects what Bruce would have wanted for their family, ensuring his well-being and safety while allowing their children to thrive.
Willis, who has stepped back from Hollywood, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a condition that strips away language and personality. Emma recalled the traumatic moment of receiving the diagnosis, saying she felt 'pins and needles' and could not hear the doctor's explanation, leaving her with no support or direction. The couple, married for 16 years, share two daughters.
