Bob Vylan have had their next gig cancelled after frontman Bobby Vylan, real name Pascal Robinson-Foster, made comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The remarks were made at a show in the Netherlands, just days after Kirk, chief executive of Turning Point USA, was shot dead at a Utah college event.
In a video posted to X, Robinson-Foster denied celebrating Kirk's death, stating: 'At no point during yesterday's show was Charlie Kirk's death celebrated.' He acknowledged calling Kirk 'a piece of s***' but insisted the death was not celebrated. The venue, 013 in Tilburg, cancelled the band's Tuesday show, saying the statements 'go too far' and 'no longer fall within the scope of what we can offer a platform.'
The band had previously sparked controversy at Glastonbury this summer when they called for 'Death to the IDF' during their performance. The venue had booked them despite that, noting the band had clarified the chant was criticism of the Israeli army, not antisemitic.
Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, was killed last Wednesday. His death has been condemned across the political spectrum, though some have celebrated it. Bob Vylan's comments have drawn criticism, including from former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.
