Britain's Got Talent Icon DJ Talent Unrecognisable 17 Years After Audition

Former Britain's Got Talent star DJ Talent, whose real name is Anthony Ghosh, is almost unrecognisable 17 years after his unforgettable audition on the ITV talent show. The rapper, now embracing a more "relaxed and chilled out" lifestyle, has transformed significantly since his time in the spotlight.

Memorable Audition and Semi-Final Exit

DJ Talent graced the third series of Britain's Got Talent in 2009, which was ultimately won by dance group Diversity. During his audition, he showcased 28 gold teeth in a 58-second performance that amused judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Piers Morgan, and guest judge Kelly Brook. In a bold move, he even invited Kelly Brook on a date, promising her a chicken salad. His catchy rap, "I say Britain, you say talent, Britain's Got Talent, it's DJ Talent," secured him a spot in the second round.

Despite the simplicity of his performance, it propelled him into the limelight. However, his journey ended at the semi-finals, where he failed to secure a place in the live final. He shared the series with Susan Boyle, who finished second with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables.

Life Before and After Britain's Got Talent

Before his BGT stint, Anthony worked in administration at a central Croydon office and studied drama at Croydon College. He has expressed fondness for Croydon, stating, "Croydon's a place close to my heart," in a 2019 interview with MyLondon.

Britain's Got Talent wasn't his only TV appearance. In 2005, he appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show, where his mother questioned his behaviour towards women after he boasted of sleeping with over 1,000 women. He also featured on The Friday Night Project, quizzing guest host Kanye West about the music industry before performing a rap.

Current Career and Lifestyle

Fast forward 17 years, Anthony remains committed to his music career but now enjoys a more "chilled" way of life. He reflected, "BGT was a good show for me. After, I did the national tour and toured all over the UK. I used that time to set up my company - Talent Recordings."

Since then, he has taken his talents worldwide, performing in countries like France, Germany, Japan, and Italy. He has expanded into creative fields, including songwriting, photography, film producing, and directing. "I have been writing music and making music. I'm pretty relaxed and chilled out," he said.

When not performing, Anthony enjoys catching films at the cinema, reading autobiographies, and snapping photographs during his travels. He continues to write, record, and produce music, releasing tracks on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube, which he hails as the "way forward" for music streaming. Notably, he even dropped a track named 'Brexit Beats,' with lyrics referencing former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage.

Britain's Got Talent continues to broadcast every Saturday on ITV and ITVX, but for DJ Talent, the show was just the beginning of a diverse and evolving career in the entertainment industry.
