David Beckham fears Brooklyn's Walk of Fame snub will cause 'public humiliation'
Beckham fears son's Walk of Fame snub will humiliate him

Football legend Sir David Beckham is reportedly gripped by the fear that his eldest son, Brooklyn, will not attend his upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, an absence that sources describe as a potential "public humiliation" for the star.

The looming ceremony and a family estrangement

The 50-year-old sports icon is set to receive a coveted star on the famous Los Angeles tourist attraction. The honour was announced in 2024 following the global success of his Netflix documentary, with organisers having a two-year window to schedule the event. He joins a list of new recipients including Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell, and Lauren Graham.

However, the impending celebration is clouded by an ongoing estrangement within the Beckham family. Brooklyn, 26, has reportedly grown distant from his parents, David and Victoria, and his brothers, Cruz and Romeo, since his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz. This rift was starkly evident last year when Brooklyn also did not attend his father's knighthood ceremony, an honour bestowed by King Charles.

A source told The Sun: "Brooklyn snubbing David’s special day will be a very public humiliation as he lives in Hollywood. Of course, David is hopeful the family will have mended their relations by then, especially after he has offered an olive branch to Brooklyn. The rift has been a great cause of heartache."

Social media blocks and a New Year's olive branch

The depth of the division became clearer in the lead-up to Christmas, when it emerged Brooklyn had blocked his parents and brothers on his social media accounts. In a poignant attempt at reconciliation, David Beckham used his New Year's message to publicly declare his love for his son, described by insiders as his "boldest olive branch yet."

Friends of the Beckhams insist David and Victoria will "never give up" hope of healing the rift. One source said: “David and Victoria will never give up trying to secure a reconciliation between them and their son. Nothing will change that, and they live in hope. He will always be their son, and they are not going to stop putting on record their feelings.”

Despite this, David's year-end montage notably lacked any photos of Brooklyn, as his eldest son continued to shun the family. Meanwhile, Brooklyn and Nicola were seen celebrating the New Year in South Florida, smiling and enjoying a performance by 50 Cent at an ultra club.

A lingering sadness and a connection to grandparents

While David has enjoyed professional triumphs, including the success of his Inter Miami CF team and his knighthood, the situation with Brooklyn casts a shadow. A source added: “This is a lingering sadness for him, and has undoubtedly overshadowed things. It’s all very upsetting.”

Insiders note that communication lines remain open between Brooklyn and his grandparents on both sides. While blocking his immediate family, Brooklyn still follows his grandparents on Instagram. He has previously posted a public birthday message to his grandmother, Sandra, David's mother, which was seen as a rare, if not final, public acknowledgement of his family.

This gesture came around the same time he visited the UK for a photoshoot without informing his parents, who only learned of his trip through a social media post from a London pub. As 2026 progresses, friends say the Beckhams are "not expecting the situation to change" but will remain ever hopeful for a reconciliation.
