The long-running and very public feud within the Beckham family has taken a pointed festive turn, with Brooklyn Beckham choosing to spend Christmas away from his famous parents for the first time.
A Christmas Divided
While David and Victoria Beckham hosted a traditional family gathering at their Cotswolds estate, their eldest son, Brooklyn, 26, remained in the United States with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz. The aspiring chef celebrated the holiday at the lavish Florida home of Nicola's billionaire parents, Nelson and Claudia Heffner Peltz.
Nicola appeared to underscore the divide by posting a series of cosy Instagram photos on Christmas Day. The images showed Brooklyn beaming while wearing matching festive pyjamas with his wife, surrounded by her family. She captioned the post: 'we wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year filled with so much love, peace and happiness ❤️⭐️'.
Social Media Swipes and Silent Treatments
The festive posts followed a series of apparent barbs exchanged via social media. On Boxing Day, David and Victoria shared a video of themselves dancing to Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb's song 'Guilty', with the pointed lyric 'We've got nothing to be sorry for' prominently featured. Victoria penned alongside it: 'David and Victoria giving their very best Barry and Barbra on Christmas Day.'
This came after Brooklyn declared Nicola his 'everything' in a Christmas Eve Instagram post and is thought to have blocked his entire immediate family, including parents David and Victoria and siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, on the platform. His brother Cruz confirmed the blocking last week, stating: 'My mum and dad would never unfollow their son... They woke up blocked... as did I.'
The Roots of the Rift and Hopes for Reconciliation
The feud, which has simmered for over a year, reportedly stems from tensions between Nicola and the Beckhams. A source claimed to The Daily Mail that Brooklyn wants a formal apology from his parents to himself and his wife for perceived slights. 'You can't inflict that much pain and damage on two people and then expect to pick up the relationship via a public social media post,' the source said.
Despite the rift, the Beckhams in the UK put on a brave face. Their Christmas celebrations included Victoria's parents, Jackie and Anthony Adams, and David's mother, Sandra. Poignantly, a stocking for Brooklyn was still hung at his grandparents' home, a symbol of hope for reconciliation.
Friends say the situation is particularly hard on the family matriarchs. 'It's Jackie and Sandra who everyone feels so sorry for,' a source revealed. 'They're not getting any younger and the cold truth of it all is that nobody knows when they will see Brooklyn next.'
Meanwhile, Brooklyn's life in the US continues apace. On Christmas Day, he was seen playing tennis in Los Angeles with professional player Reilly Opelka and Nicola's brother, Bradley Peltz, further cementing his ties to his wife's family circle as the new year begins with the family divide unresolved.
