Scott Mills Sacked by BBC Radio 2 Over Personal Conduct Allegations

Scott Mills has been sacked by the BBC following an allegation relating to his personal conduct, the Mirror can exclusively reveal. The allegation concerns a historic relationship dating back more than ten years, and is linked to a 2016 police investigation into serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. Mills was questioned under caution but the case was dropped due to lack of evidence.

The 53-year-old was taken off air from his Radio 2 breakfast show last Wednesday while the BBC assessed the information. He was told his contract was terminated at the weekend, sources claim. Mills had taken over the flagship breakfast show from Zoe Ball in 2025.

The BBC said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.” Lorna Clarke, Director of Music, informed staff this morning, saying they would be “shell-shocked” by the news. She added: “I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC.”

News of the sacking led the 12pm bulletin on Radio 2. Jeremy Vine, who succeeded Mills, said he was “taken aback” by the news. Meanwhile, LBC host Steve Allen tweeted on 30 March: “I have a feeling Scott Mills is going to be front page news tomorrow morning.”

Mills presented his last show on 24 March, signing off with: “I'm getting everything mixed up today... I should probably go, I'll try again tomorrow.” He was replaced without warning the following day by Gary Davies. Mills earned between £355,000 and £359,999 annually, according to the 2024–2025 BBC pay report.
