Bake Off's Alison Hammond: 'Tough' First Day Filming

Great British Bake Off's newest host, Alison Hammond, has candidly revealed her surprisingly 'tough' and nerve-wracking first day filming inside the iconic tent, admitting she was 'so nervous' she could barely function.

The beloved This Morning presenter, who joined the show as a replacement for Matt Lucas, opened up about the immense pressure she felt stepping into one of British television's most cherished roles.

‘My Brain Wasn’t Working’

In an exclusive chat, Alison confessed that her debut day was far from a piece of cake. "I was so nervous on my first day," she revealed. "Honestly, my brain wasn't working. I couldn't even form sentences. It was really, really tough."

The warmth and familiarity viewers see on screen belied the inner turmoil she experienced, proving that even seasoned presenters get a serious case of the jitters.

An Outpouring Of Support

Despite her initial fears, Alison was quickly put at ease by the show's tight-knit team and her co-host, Noel Fielding. She described the overwhelming support from fellow presenters and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

"Everyone has been so lovely," she gushed. "Noel, Paul, Prue… they've all been incredible. And the production team are just amazing. They really look after you."

Bringing The Joy To The Tent

Fans have eagerly anticipated Alison's unique brand of humour and infectious joy to light up the Bake Off tent. She promises to bring her authentic self to the role, aiming to connect with the bakers and ease their famous baking woes.

"I just want to have fun and be me," she said. "I want the bakers to feel comfortable and for everyone at home to feel like they're having a laugh with us."

With filming now well underway, Alison confirms she has found her footing and is thoroughly enjoying the sweet experience, promising a series filled with laughter, drama, and delicious bakes.
