Pop superstar Ariana Grande faced a frightening security scare during Thursday's Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good when an Australian influencer known as 'Pyjama Man' breached red carpet security and ambushed the terrified singer.
Who Is The 'Pyjama Man' Crasher?
The individual responsible for the alarming incident has been identified as Johnson Wen, a 25-year-old Australian influencer who proudly calls himself an 'invader' and 'troll most hated' on social media. Operating under the online persona 'Pyjama Man', Wen has developed a notorious reputation for gatecrashing major events and confronting celebrities until security personnel remove him.
This isn't Wen's first offence against celebrity security. His recent exploits include crashing The Weeknd's Melbourne concert in August and being forcibly removed from the stage during The Chainsmokers' Sydney performance in July. Just a month earlier in June, he rushed Katy Perry during her Sydney show.
A Pattern of Event Disruption
Wen's disruptive behaviour extends beyond music concerts and celebrity events. The Australian influencer has repeatedly interrupted major sporting occasions, including delaying the 100m Olympic Final in Paris 2024 by jumping barricades. He also disrupted the Cricket World Cup in 2023 and attempted to streak across the field during the FIFA Women's World Cup that same year, though he tripped over his own feet before security escorted him away.
The self-proclaimed 'invader' maintains an active online presence where he shares videos and news clips of his stunts. His content portfolio includes footage of himself disturbing peace on public transport and in shopping centres. Notably, Wen operates a GoFundMe account linked to his Instagram, where he asks followers to 'pay off all my bills'.
The Red Carpet Ambush
The terrifying encounter occurred at Universal Studios Singapore during the highly anticipated premiere of Wicked: For Good. Grande was walking the yellow carpet alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum when Wen suddenly lunged toward her, placing his arm around the shocked singer as she struggled to escape.
In a display of quick thinking and bravery, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the film, immediately jumped between Grande and the approaching man, attempting to block him while shouting at the intruder. Security guards swiftly intervened, pulling Wen away from the visibly shaken Grande, who received comfort from her co-star Erivo following the ordeal.
Wen, wearing a white T-shirt and shorts with distinctive long black hair featuring blue streaks, later shared clips of the incident on his Instagram Story. He posted: 'Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.'
Eerie footage captured before the ambush shows Wen standing beneath a Grande poster, declaring: 'I feel like I'm in a dream. That's my best friend Ariana Grande and I'm going to meet her.' Following his removal, Wen posted again on Instagram Stories, claiming he was 'free' after Grande's fans watched security tackle him to the ground.
The incident has raised serious questions about celebrity security measures at high-profile events and the growing trend of social media influencers seeking fame through dangerous and disruptive behaviour.
