Love Island Star Arabella Chi Maintains Dubai Routine Amid Regional Conflict

Arabella Chi, the former Love Island contestant, is persisting with her normal daily activities in Dubai despite widespread reports of escalating panic among other expatriates who are rushing to leave the Gulf state. The 34-year-old influencer relocated to the United Arab Emirates last year and experienced significant fear during the initial missile strikes in the region.

Initial Fear and Swift Return to Regular Content

In the early days of the conflict, Arabella expressed her terror to her 1.2 million social media followers, revealing plans to "hide her family in a storage cupboard" after clearing it out as a precautionary shelter. However, merely a day later, she resumed posting regular content, showcasing romantic evenings out with her boyfriend Billy Henty and relaxing by the pool with her baby daughter Gigi.

On a recent Sunday, Arabella visited the beach, capturing a series of carefree photographs with her daughter while wearing a white bikini. She captioned the sunny snapshots simply as "sandy toes," making no reference to the ongoing unrest in her adopted city. This behavior aligns with her recent explanation for why she still refuses to move back to the United Kingdom.

Contrasting Responses Among Influencers

Arabella represents one of several prominent figures who continue to portray Dubai in a positive light despite the chaos sparked by the US-Israel war against Iran. Yet attitudes among other influencers and social media personalities have shifted dramatically as the region entered its second weekend of strikes.

Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, 32, has shared detailed updates about her and husband Ercan Ramadan's desperate attempts to flee Dubai. After three cancelled flights, they embarked on an 11-hour private transfer across the border to Oman, driven by what she described as "rising panic" and a desire to reunite with their dogs Milo and Max back in the UK.

Vicky explained their decision in a social media post: "We really appreciate all your messages of concern and just wanted to reassure everyone that we're fine. After 3 cancelled flights and the realisation that we definitely weren't going to make it on to Australia and New Zealand we wanted to try and get home as quickly and safely as possible."

Escalating Military Situation in the Region

The UAE has reported that Iran has fired 238 ballistic missiles at their territory since the US-Israeli strikes began, with 221 intercepted and destroyed while only two reached their intended destinations. Additionally, Iran has deployed "suicide drones" to launch attacks on the Emirates.

A nighttime drone attack on two of Dubai's most upscale areas resulted in one fatality and set two residential skyscrapers ablaze on Saturday. The 88-storey 23 Marina tower building near Dubai Marina emitted smoke plumes after being struck by debris from an intercepted Iranian drone. Separately, a Pakistani driver was killed when material fell on his vehicle following a drone attack on the 19-storey Azayez Tower in the affluent Al Barsha district.

Dubai International Airport was forced to close temporarily on Saturday after a suspected Iranian drone strike triggered a massive explosion near the complex, leading to passengers being ordered off planes. Meanwhile, the UK has reportedly halved the readiness time for aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales ahead of a potential deployment to the region.

Stranded Tourists Facing Significant Expenses

Other British travelers find themselves trapped in Dubai with limited options for returning home. Influencer Lily Mann, 25, who arrived in Dubai with her boyfriend James Shires, 33, for a week-long holiday on February 26, has spent the last two days attempting to navigate a way back to the UK after their Etihad Airways flight to Manchester Airport was cancelled.

Ms. Mann told the Daily Mail: "We have been very, very unlucky and people who have got out have been very lucky. The few flights that are showing are business class or first class seats, which are coming up to around £10,000." This situation has forced the couple to extend their stay at the five-star FIVE Luxe JBR hotel, incurring additional costs exceeding £3,000 for extended accommodation and dog care services back home.

Vicky Pattison reflected on the broader context of the situation, acknowledging: "The last week has been quite unsettled and we understand people feeling unsafe and uncertain.. we have experienced moments like that, but ultimately feel like it's important we acknowledge our position of privilege." She added her concern for "anyone feeling fearful or unsettled, anywhere in a world that is rapidly becoming an increasingly scary place to be."
