Anne-Marie Candidly Discusses Motherhood Challenges and Social Media Absence

Singer Anne-Marie has openly revealed she is "still trying to figure out how to be a good mum" while reflecting on the "intensities" of motherhood in a recent social media post. The artist, who welcomed her second child, son Forever Sugar, with husband Slowthai in May, has been navigating life as a mother-of-two while balancing her music career.

Emotional Social Media Confession

Since the beginning of the year, Anne-Marie has taken a significant break from social media platforms. In a heartfelt post on X, she apologized to her followers for being "distant" during this period of adjustment. The singer, who also shares two-year-old daughter Seven with her spouse, confessed she has been reluctant to document her life online because she "looks and feels like a wreck most of the time."

In her emotional message, Anne-Marie wrote: "Feeling emotional today. Sorry I been distant. Not sure if you care but I do. I'm working really hard to get this right. Still figuring out how to be a good mum AND write the best album you've heard from me. It's intense. I want to post, but I look and feel like a wreck most of the time."

She continued with warmth and vulnerability: "I know you don't care about that though hahah. I miss you all so much and hope you are feeling as happy as you can be. A cuddle is needed."

Reflections on Personal Transformation

Anne-Marie previously shared insights about her personal evolution in a post marking the end of 2025, accompanied by rare photographs featuring herself and both children. In a lengthy caption, she expressed gratitude for the year's changes and growth.

"2025 you brought me another little angel in our lives. I am grateful. I have changed ALOT and learned ALOT this year. I am different. And that's amazing," she penned. "My outlook is different. My personality is different. My face is different. My body is different. And I love it all. What a beautiful thing. Change. Scary but beautiful."

The singer also revealed she had started ADHD medication which helped reduce anxiety and increased her confidence. Looking ahead, she expressed optimism: "I am so ready to enter 2026 as a mum of 2 and a whole new artist. I am grateful for everything in my life."

Mental Health Advocacy and Music

Anne-Marie has consistently been open about her mental health journey, including battles with anxiety and OCD. Her most recent single "DEPRESSED" documented how she handled dark, personal struggles. She released the track in October after extended time away from the spotlight, having given birth to daughter Seven in February 2024 and welcoming her son in May 2025.

Admitting nervousness about the song's reception after stepping back to focus on motherhood, Anne-Marie discussed her second child's birth during television appearances. She announced her son's arrival with sweet hospital photographs showing the newborn in a bear-motif babygro and blanket.

Pregnancy Challenges and Family Dynamics

While appearing on Capital radio before the birth, Anne-Marie revealed this would be her final child as she now has both a daughter and son. She humorously noted the difficulty of choosing another unique name after Seven, joking "we can't just call him Barry."

The star shared health updates, disclosing she had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes during this pregnancy. "I've got gestational diabetes this time, though. So yeah, that's annoying because I can't eat cereal or bread," she explained. Gestational diabetes typically occurs in later pregnancy stages and can create complications for both mother and baby.

Anne-Marie also reported unusual cravings, including a sudden desire for steak despite never having eaten it previously. Her second pregnancy followed a challenging year with husband Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Kaymone Frampton.

Navigating Personal Challenges

The pregnancy announcement came shortly after Tyron was acquitted of rape allegations involving two women from a 2021 Oxford gig. Following a two-week trial and ten hours of jury deliberation, both Frampton and co-accused Alex Blake-Walker were cleared of all charges.

After the verdict, Anne-Marie addressed the difficult period in an Instagram post, calling it the "hardest year yet" and suggesting "God was trying to see how strong she was." Through these personal and professional challenges, the singer continues to balance motherhood, music, and mental health with remarkable transparency.
