Opening Night Draws Record Crowd
The Aldeburgh Festival kicked off its 2026 season with a stunning concert at Snape Maltings, featuring the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBCNOW), the Sansara Choir, and the Sacconi Quartet. The performance attracted a record audience of 2,500, according to festival organizers.

The program included Benjamin Britten's "Les Illuminations" and a new commission by composer Hannah Kendall, titled "Echoes of the Tide." The Sacconi Quartet performed Britten's String Quartet No. 2, while the Sansara Choir joined BBCNOW for a powerful rendition of "War Requiem" excerpts.
