Adam Thomas has revealed that his mother, Gail, was rushed to hospital after he found her lying on the floor screaming 'I'm going to die'. The I'm A Celebrity star opened up about the ordeal with his brothers Scott and Ryan on their podcast, At Home with the Thomas Bros.
Discovery of Gail's Collapse
The 37-year-old actor explained that Gail had recently undergone an operation. She called him to pick her up from the hospital, and he noticed she was in significant pain. 'It's the first time I saw her in quite a lot of pain and looked at her and thought she's getting older,' Adam said. He let her stay with him for a few days as she was not well enough to be alone.
Scott, also 37, then disclosed that their mother had called him 'screaming get round here now'. He arrived to find her on the floor, in severe pain. 'She was like I've called an ambulance, I don't know what's going to happen, I think I'm dying,' Scott recounted. Paramedics assessed her and suggested she might have a stomach bug.
Gallbladder Diagnosis and Surgery
Despite the paramedics' initial assessment, Gail's pain persisted. Two days later, she called Scott again. 'The third day, she rang me again and said it had come back again, we called an ambulance again and she was in so much pain,' Scott said. At the hospital, doctors diagnosed gallstones and removed her gallbladder. Scott praised her resilience: 'She's been an absolute soldier.'
Adam's I'm A Celebrity Struggles
The podcast has also been a platform for Adam to discuss his emotional struggles after winning I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. He revealed a feud with David Haye and Jimmy Bullard, which led to a tearful rant. Adam, who suffers from arthritis, felt 'useless' when David berated him, and Jimmy's mid-challenge exit angered him.
Adam admitted he was 'anxious' about the show airing due to the 'hard time' he experienced. 'As the series goes on, you'll see me having a hard time with some campmates and a part of me coming out that I've not seen before,' he said. He later started therapy, stating, 'I know for a fact that I'm not the same person that went into the jungle. I'm in therapy, it f**ked with me mentally.' He described the experience as 'so lonely' and broke down in tears while speaking.
