Olympic champion Adam Peaty has swiftly signalled his allegiance to his new family, changing his name on social media just days after marrying Holly Ramsay in a lavish ceremony overshadowed by a bitter rift with his own parents.
A New Name and a Stark Statement
The gold medallist, 31, tied the knot with influencer Holly, 25, at Bath Abbey on Saturday. In a move that has captured public attention, Peaty has since updated his social media profiles to read Adam Ramsay Peaty, incorporating his wife's famous surname. This symbolic gesture follows his decision to uninvite his own parents, Caroline and Mark Peaty, from the wedding festivities.
The name change echoes that of Brooklyn Beckham, who added his wife Nicola Peltz's surname after their 2022 marriage. Beckham, a close childhood friend of the bride, was notably absent from the wedding, reportedly due to his own strained relationship with parents David and Victoria.
A Mother's Heartbreak and a Chef's Dig
While celebrations unfolded at the abbey and later at the exclusive Kin House venue, Adam's mother Caroline was said to be 'beside herself' with grief at her home in Staffordshire, over 130 miles away. She described feeling as though her son and new daughter-in-law had 'cut my heart out'.
The drama reportedly spilled into the wedding speeches. According to sources, father of the bride Gordon Ramsay made a pointed comment during his address. After praising his wife Tana as a wonderful mother, the celebrity chef, 59, allegedly told Holly: 'Shame you don't have the same,' in a perceived dig at Adam's absent parents. It is further claimed that Adam has now blocked his family from contacting him.
