Strictly Come Dancing fans were left divided as Cach Mercer dropped a major spoiler before the results show aired. The live show and results show are filmed on the same night but broadcast separately, with the main show airing on Saturday and the results show on Sunday.
Before viewers discovered who was eliminated, Love Island winner Cach, 25, revealed that he had made it through to week three. Alongside snaps from his performance with newcomer Maddie Ingoldsby, and a few behind-the-scenes photos, Cach thanked fans for voting to keep him in the competition another week.
Star's early post sparks backlash
The results show didn't air until 7:10pm, while Cach shared his post more than an hour and a half before. Cach deleted the post and reshared it after the results show aired, but not before several fans spotted the error.
One fan fumed: "They should not be allowed to post before results, @strictly what's point of watching, but typical of content creator, thinking like a reporter, scoop first, I like Cach, but wish people think of viewers who like to wait for show not youtube."
Another said: "He’s going to get told off for that, I’m sure they are all told in advance not to post anything on social media before the results show has aired."
Couple's dance earns high score
Cach and Maddie earned their highest score in the competition so far for their Couple’s Choice to Beware.. The South London Lover Boy by RAYE. The judges were divided in their feedback, with Craig Revel Horwood arguing it was "too stop-and-start". Motsi Mabuse said it "needs more polish", but Anton Du Beke commended the routine, saying he "liked it a lot".
Despite the mixed comments, the pair were awarded an impressive 31 points, placing them joint second on the leaderboard.
Shaun Wright-Phillips and Melanie Walters finished the night at the bottom of the leaderboard, with both landing in the dance-off. After they performed again, Melanie and her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec were eliminated from the competition.
