Farming programmes have been dominating British television in recent years, but which one comes out on top? The UK is a significant farming nation, and there is a host of agricultural programmes on streaming services and on analogue television that have captivated viewers for years.
Some shows, such as Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Video, depict the harsh realities of the farming industry, where farmers face staggering financial and bureaucratic hurdles. Others, such as Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, centre on raising a family of farmers in Yorkshire during a divorce.
We have whittled down the top farming shows on the box to four, and it is Express.co.uk readers' chance to vote for their favourite of all time.
Clarkson's Farm
Clarkson's Farm has made the shortlist. The show, which launched in 2022 and follows former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson trying to run his 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, is currently in its fifth season. In a heartbreaking moment during the latest outing, Jeremy told his co-stars he had been diagnosed with cancer. The announcement has sparked a huge reaction online and in the news in the past few days, with fans hoping the 66-year-old will recover from the illness.
Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids
Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids is also in our poll, and it is a follow-up series featuring the Owen family who live in Ravenseat Farm in Yorkshire. Amanda, best known as the Yorkshire Shepherdess, has nine children with her ex-husband, Clive. Their original show, named Our Yorkshire Farm, was a huge hit on Channel 5, and this series brings the family back together through an entirely new chapter following Clive and Amanda's separation.
Countryfile
Countryfile is arguably the undisputed titan of British agricultural broadcasting and has been on air since 1988. It has amassed a huge following and had to be added to the poll. The long-running BBC programme covers conservation, rural politics and hard-hitting topics such as fox hunting and mental health crises facing modern farmers.
Fletchers' Family Farm
The final item listed for readers to potentially vote for is Fletchers' Family Farm, which follows how Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher decided to swap film sets for cow barns with his wife, Liz, and four young children. Kelvin, who also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing, ironically spent 20 years on Emmerdale playing farmer Andy Sugden. Despite his character being an established farmer, the actor had zero real-life agricultural experience when he purchased a 120-acre farm.
So which show is your favourite? Vote in our poll below now!
