The new Premier League season is approaching, and clubs are already focusing on the upcoming campaign, particularly the release of the fixture schedule for 2026-27.
Champions and Managerial Changes
Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, dethroning Liverpool and holding off a resilient Manchester City. After three seasons as runners-up, Mikel Arteta's side finally claimed English football's biggest prize.
Manchester City are preparing for another title fight but, for the first time in a decade, without Pep Guardiola, who has stepped down and been replaced by Enzo Maresca. Liverpool and Chelsea also have new managers: Andoni Iraola moved from Bournemouth to Anfield, while former Reds star Xabi Alonso takes over at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United appointed Michael Carrick as full-time manager after his impressive interim spell secured a third-placed finish and a return to the Champions League. Tottenham's late-season appointment of Roberto De Zerbi helped them avoid relegation on the final day, and he has already added three new players to strengthen the squad.
Promoted Teams
Ipswich, Hull, and Coventry are the three promoted teams, with Coventry returning to the top flight after 25 years.
When Are the Premier League Fixtures Released?
The Premier League will release the fixtures for the 2025-26 campaign on Friday, June 19, 2026. The official reveal of all 380 matches is scheduled for 10am BST.
Season Start Date
The first match is pencilled in for Saturday, August 22, a week later than usual due to the 2026 World Cup. However, Friday night curtain-raisers are becoming more common, so the opening game is expected on August 21.
Over the Christmas period, no club will play more than once within 60 hours, and there will be no Christmas Eve fixture. The final round of games is scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2027.
